About Us
Purpose: To glorify God by creating relational opportunities for people to hear the Gospel and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
In 2004, Brackenhurst Ministries was incorporated as a non-profit organization to support and facilitate Brackenhurst Adventures, Camp Brackenhurst,
Brackenhurst Students Outreach and Community Outreach programs in Kenya, East Africa. Additionally, a Board of Directors was formed to provide support and counsel on the future of Brackenhurst Ministries. The eight individuals on the board come from various business and ministry backgrounds and focus on assisting the ministry in budget and financial considerations, fundraising, office administration, legal affairs, and the future growth and establishment of programs. Brackenhurst Ministries is located in Limuru, Kenya on the grounds of Brackenhurst International Conference Center.
Brackenhurst Adventures was started in 2001, providing Christian adventure team-building for mission groups, corporations and schools. Through experiential education, groups can focus on building trust, enhancing communication, problem solving, encouragement and celebrating accomplishments. Adventures has recently begun expanding to include off-site programs such as rock climbing, hiking and camping.
Camp Brackenhurst opened in the summer of 2001, giving youth from all over Africa and several other continents the opportunity to experience adventure camping. Youth aged 7-17 attend camp for a week long session that challenges them to grow spiritually, build relationships with others, and have fun. College-aged students from the United States volunteer their time to come and serve as counselors, providing students with excellent role-models and sharing with them the love of Jesus.
In 2005 a year-round Student Outreach was established to continue building on the relationships formed during summer camp. Through supporting and encouraging students in their daily lives, the student outreach team hopes to build on the spiritual foundation that was laid during camp.
Community Outreach projects are also supported throughout the year. Through time and resources Brackenhurst team members have supported a local orphanage, a community health program, local youth camps, and programs in the slums of Nairobi.
Today, Brackenhurst Ministries continues to provide the vision, administration, staffing, and logistics needed to run the programs. As a non-profit
organization, each team members is responsible for raising their own support and all programs are supported through donations.
