Adventure Program

If you have ever spent time participating in outdoor adventure activities, you have probably experienced growth that will continue to impact you throughout your lifetime. Perhaps you learned to trust the Lord or your teammates. Maybe you developed a friendship with someone who has challenged you spiritually; or maybe you fell more in love with our Creator as you experienced His beautiful creation. The Brackenhurst Ministries adventure program seeks to help our participants have experiences just like the ones you may have experienced.

In 2001 we started using experiential learning through adventure to build relationships and encourage change.  Through quality programming for corporate, mission, and school groups, we use our high and low element ropes course to help groups learn to trust and encourage one another, develop communication skills, and solve problems effectively.  As team members experience our programs, they develop a strong connection with our staff. This connection creates fellowship opportunities that allow staff to build relationships away from the adventure program that we pray will lead to the furthering of the Gospel.

In addition to traditional teambuilding, we are also one of the few venues in Kenya that offers quality adventure activities, such as rock climbing, rafting, and camping. Our desire is to use this program as a tool for our outreach teams. We believe that climbing a mountain, sitting around a campfire, or a day on the river can promote great conversations with group members or students. As individuals escape from the fast-paced realities of their lives, our team seeks to cultivate friendships, share our experiences, and spur them on in their relationship with Christ or share Christ with them for the first time.

Mr. Patel first brought his team to the Brackenhurst Ministries teambuilding program in 2006. At the time he was an administrator for a local hospital. His influence helped to bring the entire hospital staff of 1500 people through the program later that year. Right away Mr. Patel connected with his group’s facilitator and over the past 3 years they have developed a close relationship. He regularly invites our team member to karoga’s (cookouts), where our team member has been able to develop many more friendships as well as share Christ with Mr. Patel and his friends on numerous occasions. Our team member also had the opportunity to spend a week with Mr. Patel and some of his friends as they climbed Mt. Kenya. Mr. Patel’s story illustrates the vital role that the adventure program plays as we seek to share the Gospel with South Asians who do not know Christ.
