Get Involved - Short Term Teams

Participating on a short term team is a great way to grow in your relationship with the Lord and find out how He is calling you to be involved in international mission work. It will also help you understand the work that Brackenhurst Ministries is doing and figure out how you can continue to be involved. Teams get to take part in the work that we are doing by taking part in special events, sharing Christ with unbelievers, and participating in community development. By spending time in Nairobi and in western Kenya, participants are able to gain an appreciation of Kenya’s diverse people. Below you will find a summary of how 2 recent teams plugged in:

Southside Church of Peachtree City, Georgia has partnered with Brackenhurst Ministries for the past 3 summers to minister within the international community in Nairobi and the local community at the Western project. The team has attended the international church where they taught classes, greeted, and helped out in a variety of other areas. They have also been a part of other ministry opportunities among the international community, including camping and dinner parties. The team has also traveled to Western Kenya to work with the western project. The team led Bible studies, led a children's programs, taught gardening skills, built a chicken coup, distributed food, and participated in evangelism in the area. Their goal is to continually support Pastor Edwin and his team of local pastors.
In the summer of 2009, Union University in Jackson, Tennessee sent a team of athletes to partner with Brackenhurst Ministries. These ladies spent time in Western Kenya where they helped teachers understand the importance of physical health as well as taught them games and activities that they could teach their students. They also spent time teaching PE to the children from the orphanage and the ECD centers and sharing Christ in a local high school. During their time in Nairobi they also went camping with some of our team’s South Asian friends and got to spend a day helping out at camp.

Larry and Ginger took part in a short term project with Brackenhurst Ministries through Southside Church in 2007 and 2008 and experienced tremendous growth during their time with us. “Kenya changed our lives…forever!!! The difference our trip made is we thank God for our daily bread,....daily. We thank Him for a restful night and waking up in a peaceful nation. We thank him for electricity, indoor plumbing, clean water, and health. We thank Him for the sunshine, and rain, even if it does spoil our outdoor plans. We don't take the little things for granted since our visit to Kenya.”
