Short-term Missions - 2008 recap

Southside Church:

Southside Church of Peachtree City, Georgia partnered with Brackenhurst Ministries in Kenya to minister within the international community in Nairobi and the local community in Bungoma. The trip was primarily a vision trip as Southside investigated a possible partnership with a new church, International Christian Fellowship (ICF). The team attended ICF and taught various classes. Through this connection the team was able to begin to lay a foundation for future trips and to see how to support this ministry in the future. The team also traveled to Western Kenya to work with Pastor Edwin Wanyama. Pastor Edwin leads 30+ churches and runs a school and an orphanage, and the team helped to support all of these while in Kenya. The team led a women's Bible study, led a children's program, taught gardening skills, built a chicken coup, did food distribution, and did general evangelism in the area. Their goal is to continually support Pastor Edwin and his team of local pastors. This trip was a huge success!

2009 dates

2009 Trip: Thursday, June 11 - Sunday, June 21

Next informational meeting is January 11th at Southside, then application deadline is Feb 5.

Team meeting is Feb 8th, location TBD. This meeting is for those who are committed and going on the 2009 trip.

Team Retreat is Feb 27 - 28 at WinShape in Rome, GA.
