Western Project - How it all began

In 1989 Pastor Edwin started his first church in the Bungoma area.  He served as the pastor for Bukholi Church for many years. As pastor, he recognized that there was a high infant death rate in the area, which led him to found a clinic to help care for the people, specifically the children.  As the AIDS epidemic began to claim more lives, he recognized that it was leaving behind a growing number of orphans. In 1997 he founded Rehema Children’s Home and Rehema Academy to house, feed, and educate many of these orphans. The project currently supports Rehema Children’s Home, which cares for 140 orphans.  Rehema Academy is located on the same site and offers schooling for the orphans, as well as 150 kids from the neighboring villages. New to the project is Mwibale Primary School which just became fully operational in January of 2009.  This school serves 120 students and was started because there was not a school accessible to the children from Mwibale.

Bukholi Church, under Pastor Edwin’s guidance, saw the need for a church to be planted in each local area.  They began commissioning and sending out pastors in 2000.  Our team has partnered with Mission Link Ministries because we believe in Pastor Edwin’s vision to reach the people of Bungoma with the Gospel, taking care of their physical needs as well as their spiritual needs.  Rather than trying to do everything and anything to help, we have chosen to focus our work on evangelism, education/ training, and feeding.

A Letter from Pastor Edwin
Dear Friends,
I am very excited to write you this letter, to extend my heartfelt appreciation for how God has used your prayers and support to touch the dear lives here in Africa through Brackenhurst Ministries in partnership with Mission Link Ministries of Kenya.  Through the ministries above, we are empowered to reach the entire community by giving the milk cows, accessing clean water (drilling all seasons boreholes), feeding the hungry and orphans, educating the needy and caring for them, providing seeds, fertilizer, and labour for the Rehema children home and etc. Again I say thank you SO much and God bless you. I pray that you continue with the same.

Sincerely

Pastor, Edwin W. Wanyama
